Patient Safety Policy
The concept of patient safety offers a positive spin on the more emotionally laden concept of medical error. We at IGKC hospitals obey the basic patient safety principles that help in improving the clinical outcome, reducing cost of the hospital care, as well safeguards the health care providers from avoidable litigations
To prevent incidences of in-hospital patient falls is hourly rounding of the ward by nursing staff and the principle of 4Ps is applied in these rounds. The four Ps stand for Pain, Potty, Position and Periphery. The four items of P deal with proper management of toileting behavior, managing pains of various types and intensities, positioning in the bed or elsewhere in the ward to facilitate risk-free movement and keeping personal items within reach of the patient in properly ordered manner.
